I have a house with built in garage with living space above , The code calls for fire rated drywall in ceiling , the wall are concrete block, I wanted to mount the main panel on the garage wall inside . I hate run that many conduits up the wall to protect all the home runs, it will be a 42/42 filled. I had a plan to install 2 , 2x6 treated studs against the wall from floor to ceiling and mount the panel in between ,the box will be covered with drywall floor to ceiling , The 2x6 will leave room to bring cables down behind panel to the bottom knock outs. My question is can I leave the box open at the top inside where the cable enter the area above the ceiling , the outside of box will seal to the ceiling dry wall. No fire can get above the ceiling without going thru the fire rated rock on the box . but the cabels could burn and get thru with no fire chaulk

Your best to talk to fire marshall. Some are easy to please some not but it will be his call.

How would you do this panel, do you know a better way, what if instead of small conduits i use several 2" , there is a place in code that all allows this as a sleave , I think the length is max 10 ft and has to be out top of box and ends sealed. I would have to cut the 2" holes
