I work in a industrial manufacturing place. We have several distribution panels. Most of the panels are 42 circuit that have 42 outlets that serve assembly table power. The panels are labeled from where they are fed, voltage, amp ,phase and there own identification number. The outlet boxes that are fed from the panels have what panel they go to along with what circuit number they are on them with marker. The panels themselves are not labled to where the circuit goes to. The reason why we don't do this is because machiney and tables move aroung frequently. Is this necessary?

Thanks
Mike

Re: Panel labels

Mike,
The code requires identification at the panel.
408.4 Circuit Directory.
All circuits and circuit modifications shall be legibly identified as to purpose or use on a circuit directory located on the face or inside of the panel door in the case of a panelboard, and at each switch on a switchboard.
