im looking for the article where it tells you where a panel can be located inside the house...i see 230.70 a2...whicj says it cant be in a bathroom...im pretty sure it cant be in a clothes closet...

You got the restricyions but watch staircases and make sure you have the Height, width and depth
 
actually 230.70(a)(2) refers to service equipment, not panels in general.
While you are looking, broaden your outlook a bit and and take overvcurrent protection into consideration also, and not just the panel.

thanks augie, thats the section i was looking for...been a while since i read it......i have a house and im trying to decide whether i should upgrade the service....of course it has 2 sub panels, which are located one on the first floor in a closet under the stairs and on the second floor its in a closet(they converted it into a closet)...
