Panel Locations in a Multi-Story Building

I recall a restriction panels feeding branch circuits more than one story above or below the level the panel is located on, but I cannot locate that restriction. Does anyone know what NEC Code Section this is?

I know of no restriction other that as covered by 240.24(B).

There is no code issue involved. But you are starting to get your branch circuit close to, or over 100 feet long. At that point I start to look closely into voltage drop. It is simply a design consideration.

I know I have encountered this restriction before. It might be in a different standard or code and perhaps applies only to a specific occupancy? I just cant recall where. I believe it was a I-2 nursing home use in Michigan. So difficult to feel satisfied I don't have a problem when I can't find where I encountered it before. Proof of non-existence of a restriction, what a pain.

The closest thing that I can think of is that in a multiple dwelling a panel in one unit is not allowed to serve loads in other units. Not relevant here.
