i have the last 36" space on a wall with a window at the begining of the
36" space. i like to mount a 200a panel in that space . it's res. i family basement and it's replacing a panel. Is there a code about the clarance of a window? thank you

Yes, but that is in the IRC, and has to do with people being able to crawl out of a bedroom window (egress). There is nothing in the NEC about windows, save for clearance from service taps.

I have heard that glass is actually a liquid. Could this possibly violate the " I can't find it in the code right now, but I know its in there somplace" rule about making sure your panel is 6 feet from a water source? :D

There is no requirement to be any distance away from a water source.

I know that, and you know that, but lets keep it a secret since there are quite a few electrical inspectors on the city force where I live that don't know that.:)

I was only alluding to a bad inspection I had to go thru earlier this year. I'm still steaming.

I assumed that since you put the big smiley at the end of the post. But this is a common misconception.

Micky, is this window located in a bedroom? If it's not it's probably not even required so just cover the whole window with plywood. If it's in a bedroom then don't block it.
