does anyone know what the rating of the secondary lugs are rated for on a 60 amp fuse box? I would like to leave the main fuses from old box and put 60a breaker sub-panel of the existing fuses and dont know if the load could be carried on the taps.
I may not understand your question, but are you asking what the rating of the lugs on a 60 amp fused disconnect are? They would necessarily be at least 60 amps, wouldn't they?
The lugs are 60 amp ,but just what is the load your putting on to this sub panel.Don't forget you will need to split neutrals and hots.Im assuming your wishing to use the pull outs as your main disconnect.
using the 60a main fuses as my main disconnect leaving the fuse box and putting new breaker box off the fuses. the load side splits internally to the load fuses and the hot taps. are any of those rated to 60a to feed the new panel?
Not seeing the panel makes it a rough call.I would think they would have to be rated 60 if it was intended for a tap.I assume there is some reason your not replacing the hole dang thing.
You want to also make sure it is really a 60 ampere service. Some of those were 60/40 parallel and it was rated as a 100 ampere service. If you load one side to 60 amperes and then put 60 ampere fuses in the other side, you could actually load it to 120 amperes!
