panel upgrades

I'm re-wiring an existing residential home that is currently vacant. The very first issue at hand (among many), would be upgrading the 100A panel to a 200A panel to handle future loads of a hot tub and A/C. however, the main panel currently is located directly above the gas main. This is the first time I've come across this situation. What is the code on new or upgraded panel boards in proximity to the gas main? :confused:

Call your AHJ for the answer. In Westchester County, NY you would not be permitted to install the new panel above the gas pipe for two reasons. The POCO and the new Residential Building Code. This restriction is being enforced now where it never was before and it is causing frustration for some contractors who are not up on the code.
