Panelboard Lighting Contactor

We have a large 40+ Ckt Panelboard with a failed Lighting Contactor. The contactor is inside the breaker panel from the manufacture. Panelboard Lighting Contactor.

The Contactor is obsolete. None of the Surplus Elect. Distributors I have contacted can find the Contactor and they cannot find the replacement parts kits.

I found another brand that makes a nearly identical Contactor that will fit in place of the failed contactor inside the breaker panel. The new contactor would be a Panel Mount Type. It would not bolt directly to the Panel Buss. It would connect line and load with large copper wires.

Would this void the UL Listing of the Panel ?

If it’s the style I think it is, it’s made by ASCO, but is relabeled under several different manufacturers. Square D, Siemens, and GE have all used them. Try searching using a cross reference. It has been a while since I’ve replaced one though, so it may truly be unobtainium.

I could go external with these. There are two headbolt panels side by side. Both with the Obsolete Square-D Panelboard Lighting Contactors. My local Square-D Distributor first verified that Square-D does not make or support them any more than they came back to me saying they could get the Re-Branded Asco. Then they changed their minds and said the Asco is not available. Odd...

Possibly the above link to ebay is also to an Obsolete Asco. I will some research to see if the Asco is still available.

I used to see a lot of those in Havertys furniture stores. Home Depot used a lot of them in panel EM for the quartz restrikes on the old stores that had HID lighting. Publix has some in their older stores for sales lights.
