can someone tell me where to go in the code where it says a panelboard cannot be placed within 6ft vertically of a attic acess? i have a attic acess in the hallway. the print shows a panelboard in a bedroom that shares a wall with the hallway wall. the inspecter says that the homerun wiring will be to close to the attic acess when the installation is complete. i have not even started pulling wire. i would just like to know where he got this. thanks for any replys.

I imagine he's referencing 334.23 (320.23).
The "problem" should be surmountable by proper routing or running boards.

another way to get the home runs away from the attic access is to bring them up a foot or so and secure them and then bore some holes in some if the wall studs and run your conductors horizontally a couple of bays before you go vertical.

I agree with Gus. It's likely that the problem is running the cables within 6' of the access point.
