I have 100A panelboard with 225A main circuit breaker. However the panelboard is being fed by 100A fuses. Would upstram of 225A panelboard main breaker 100A fuse would still protect the panelboard and be code compliant or would I need to replace 225A main panelboard breaker with 100 main circuit breaker panelboard?

not sure how one gets a "100 amp panelboard with a225 main" but as long as there is upstream protection not exceeding the panelboard buss it meets Code.
