110.26(C)(2) talks about where equipment rated at 1200 amps or more and over 6' wide ("and" being the key word here) exists in a room, entrance doors shall open in the direction of egress and be equipped with some sort of panic hardware where the latches of the door open under simple pressure. My question is about the 1200 amps or more and 6'+ wide. Do both conditions have to be met before panic hardware is required? I am installing a 1200 amp disconnect switch in a room but the disconnect is only 30" wide. I'm not sure if panic hardware is required since the width is less than 6'+ wide.

Re: Panic hardware required

Hi Sparky. notice that the provision for panic hardware is located under the section titled "large equipment". You have to meet both criteria before the panic hardware is required.
