Parallel Generator Sets

I have a project where natural gas is not available but my client wants to use a Bi-Fuel Generator set (ie. LP Gas + Diesel). Unfortunately, Generac doesent seem to make a Bi-Fuel LP / Diesel combination, and even the Natural Gas one STARTS at 500kW which is too large.

Generac does make a parallel solution using their MPS. Has anyone seen this successfully used with (2) generators running on different fuel sources? Obviously the characteristics would be different of each but figured this option was worth exploring. Ideally, im looking for some way to parallel (2) ~150kW Generator sets with one running on LP, the other on Diesel.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

It would probably be easier to get a propane/gasoline bi-fuel generator, though gasoline does not store as well as diesel. Is it a local code requirement for dual fuel source? Usually it is only required if the fuel source could be interrupted by a natural or man made disaster such as a natural gas line break or emergency shutdown.

I heard back from Generac and they say their MPS system can parallel two generators of different sources which is great to know. This system keeps the generators in sync with each other.

The reason for the parallel is because they dont want to use all of their diesel fuel for the generator because its used elsewhere on site.

You'll want to be careful here. Paralleling reliably and to perform as expected can be complex territory. Ron offers good advice. Also if this being used as an Article 700 system there are added things to consider.
