We are running 3 parallel 350 conductors in a single cable tray. The conductors are ran side by side with the first conductor being phase "A" the second phase "B" the third phase "C" and the fourth ground. The next conductor is phase "A" etc for 3 sets of conductors. An inspector, not the AHJ, is stating that the conductors are not grouped according to 392.8(D). All of the conductors are strapped down.

What do you think?

What do you think?

I think you did exactly what 392.8(D) requires.

392.8(D) Connected in Parallel. Where single conductor cables
comprising each phase, neutral, or grounded conductor of n
alternating-current circuit are connected in parallel as permitted
in 310.4, the conductors shall be installed in groups consisting
of not more than one conductor per phase, neutral, or
grounded conductor to prevent current imbalance in the paralleled
conductors due to inductive reactance.

Single conductors shall be securely bound in circuit
groups to prevent excessive movement due to fault-current
magnetic forces unless single conductors are cabled together,
such as triplexed assemblies.

Second that. It sounds like you did it exactly right and he wants to change it for the worse.
