scared of heights?

scared of heights?

I was thinking of expanding into this work. I notice a lot of lamps burned that go a long time before repair or replacement. I was wondering about that time, delay that they are down.I was also wondering if the money is not that great in this service? Does anyone do this or most of you "scared" of heights!! A good bucket truck is a large investment if it sits most of the time!

A good bucket truck and operator is great to have, $100/hr+
My advice is to replace all equipment inside the fixture and not just a lamp because return trips cost YOU money.

If you buy one buy the biggest you can get we have a monster that was bought at auction the first job was a relamp at the school ball field no body else could reach them got our pic in the paper and that lead to several more field light relamps

I have a simple question about bucket trucks, as I am starting to look into them.

When you talk about 25-foot, 30-foot, 36-foot, what does the number actually represent?

Is the 'feet' the maximum height for the bucket floor, the top rail, as high as an average adult can reach, or what?

There are plenty of guys who buy a bucket truck with visions of making money in lighting, as soon as those blured visions clear up and your thinking comen back to basic business practices, you may get a grip on the idea.

If your instest is in building a lighting contract shop , you will need to have eniough contracted work, to support the operation and maint of the bucket, do the math, you may be be supprised at the cost of having a bucket truck, most guys buuy the truck, first then get worried when the costs pile up and no contracts to cover then, they usually end up low balling existing work, and just making matters worse, then as fast as they bought the rig they are stelling it, and what ever you do don't try to talk reason to them, they are not in a listening mode, until they set their new workers comp rating, or their new GL insurance rates.

Buying a bucket truck was one of our first and best moves.

The height refers to working height....about chest high when you are parked right on the pole.

Ours are about 30', electric/hydraulic and mounted on a 14' box van.
