Has anyone heard or found any parking lot fixtures comparable to a 400 watt MH yet? From what I hear they are really expensive and the lighting is just not there yet. Even the salesmen say they are not that good. We are thinking about adding 3 on our lot. Any input is appreciated.

Cooper has a nice unit. - Check their web site.

It can / will exceed 400MH if you want it to, based on design.

It has the same color rendering as a MH as well

You would have to get a quote for them but I believe they are +/- $1,500 - $2000 per head

Utlity rebates might help with the cost and the maintance and energy savings are obvious.

The only stuff I've seen is pretty weak. I don't know the wattage but a new burger place down the street had them installed. They looked more like 75W MH. I can't believe they passed city inspection. The lot was lighted but not very well.

That's what I am afraid of. They still are not fully developed yet. Thanks for the input.

You will get what you pay for.

If you use a quality MFG you will achieve your desired results.

If you don't you will get crap. LED's are unlike any other fixture we purchase. Normally when you buy a cheap fixure it just leads to additional maintance. With LED's it leads to reduced light output.

Take-in a few seminars on LED's before you make your decision. IMO they are a very hard sell due to lack of or slow pay-back. However if money is not an issue they are worth installing. There are a lot of cool things you can do with parking lot fixtures. I.E. very specific cut off patterns, motion sensors ect. Reduced maintance is the obvious reason.

Stick with qulity mfg and you be happy with the results.

From data I have seen LEDS do not have the lumen/watt output near that of HID fixtures, they are $$$$$$$$!!, the life time is not near to what they claim, and I am not impressed with the light quality.
