Traditionally the electrical power connections are made through a handhole in the pole, and the wiring to the light at the top of the poles is not in conduit because the pole itself is a grounded shield between the wiring and people in the parking lot.

If TV security, low voltage, cables are added inside the pole for a camera; is this installation an NEC violation?

???

???

First thought is always:
300.3 (C)(1) Conductors of different systems

300.5 Underground Instatlation (but the pole already exists)

300.42 Moisture or mechanical protection for metal sheathed cables

300.50 Underground Installations

"ADDED
Also Voltage drop calculates, and (725.26) what ever the requirements are for your Exact service that your installing ...

This is why I try to use fiber optics for the security cameras. The NEC doesn't govern beams of light. But you don't get many camera options with that. Or come up with some way to divide the inside of the pole if you need copper wires going to the cameras. Anyone else have good ideas for separating the conductors of different systems in a light pole?

Article 110

Couduit body <<

Identified (as applied to equipment)
Listed (Bingo)

All Good Reading - (pick a Code)

Now I know someone can add to the list, But I don't thing Luminaire's are listed for the interior of walls. Light Scope ?
What Mr. Bush just had that's UL approved/Listed and Doctor approved ...

Actually it does, take a look at Article 770 Optical Fiber Cables and Raceways.

Why is the interior of a light pole any different than a hollow space inside a wall?

The interior of a metal pole can be used as a raceway, where the hollow space in a wall can't. Take a look at 410.15(B)

Because the NEC tells us the inside of a luminare pole is to be considered a raceway see 410.15 (B).

This is a good topic. Also other than coax what about speaker wire and speakers mounted in the base of the pole along with the connections from the 480 V up to the lamp at the top of the pole.
