Here is the situation. Need to remove a pole light in a parking lot. Normally this would not be a problem I would just cut the PVC underground and spice in a new section an repull the feed to the remaining light. Having an unbroken run from pole to pole.

In this pole light there are 3 conduits stubed up ( home run and feeds going in two directions).

My question is this: Is there a product ( box) that will allow access and is safe to be driven on ( parking lot area to be paved ).

The paving contractor said that another electrician promised to install some sort of box but I am not familiar with this.

If you know of something that will work I would be interested in learning about it. Teach an old dog some new tricks.
 
We just had to install a communications vault. What we did was pour the vault with concrete, 6" thick and installed a Neenah Foundry lid. The lid was like $400 plus shipping. As we say in Texas ain't no way anything is going to dent that vault. But also I have installed Quazite in a football field, they were way less work and less expensive, but not near the strength.

Yup..Don has the animal you need. We've installed them all over the place ~ parking lots, landscaped areas, etc.

You might even need to cut back some the PVC.....
 
Thanks fellows. As usual the contractor was looking for something quick & cheap. I told him I didn't know of anything like that. Another EC has already tried to sell him on the traffic rated hand hole box ( this would work great ).

I don't know why people always think there is going to be an easy & inexpensive solution.

Just got a call from the company that was going to take the pole down tomorrow. The paving contractor has already found someone cheaper. This has all happened in about 3 hours. This guy is just fishing and that's all I need to know.

This will be a good job for someone else. :wink:

Perhaps a bit much for this situation.

What would be a ball park price for the cast iron box ( heavy traffic).
Just the box no labor.
