Along with being a teacher I have some rentals. Right now I have a duplex that is set up seperately. Two meters. The downstairs apartment is working fine. The upstairs apartment about every 24-48 hours will have a partial power outage. Appoximately 7-10 minutes later everything turns back on and is fine. The fuse panel has been looked at by an electrician and he said everything is fine in there. The power company said that the meter socket outside has some corrosion on the terminals. What could be causing this power outage. The electrician said he would start by putting in a new meter socket. I need some help with this problem.

Thanks.

The kinds of questions we are likely to ask, in an effort to better understand the situation, are the kind that only the electrician is likely to be able to answer. My best suggestion, if you would like help from the membership of this Forum, is to suggest that your electrician sign up, and tell us what he knows about the problem.

Hope i'm not out of bounds Charlie, but his electrician may be on the right track.
You are certainly not out of bounds, and I hope you are right. My comment was in reply to the OP's statement that, "I need some help with this problem." I simply didn't think we could successfully provide that help, without communicating directly with the electrician.

Power outage

Certainly you problem indicates that some portion of your electrical system is failing, this also would indicate that something is heating up in the process so be ware of a fire hazard.
Secondly your description does not indicate by the use of the word ( partial) , Brown out or partial loss of power on one phase, or if something is turning on and of at those times. Typically this type of problem is encountered in the distribution system, Panel , meter base and sometimes due to a bad service lateral or poor splice hidden under electrical tape. The possibility also exists that a breaker is failing.
I would say that who ever has looked at the problem has not looked close enough and that possibly, you should have some one else take a look.
But again my concern is that due to some faulty connection heat is being produced.
