I get into discussions a lot with people about how many things come bad out of the box. I said it is about 3%, but that may be a bit high, until one day it seems that a bunch of stuff is faulty. any other folks have averages on stuff not working straight from the factory?

About 20 years ago I had 10 out of 14 rotary dimmers that were defective right out of the box. And just recently my supply company switch brands of light bulbs for the 65 R30 bulbs because we had over 90% of the bulbs defective. They would work for less than a day or two.

Edit to add--- this issue was resolved by the company and it was a popular American Company.

I have seen a pretty high failure rate with the Phillips Alto flourescent lamps (green ends). Had one box of thirty where 10 would not work even in a new fixture.
