I got through the Florida Residential exam today with a happy outcome.

Gee, college was easier than this. Really it was!

A big THANKS to Mike Holt & staff and especially the brilliant John Mills.
The Holt philosophy is a good one and it really works.

I credit as well my early apprenticeship, other schools, Life, a lot of studying and a prayer or two!

I'm not gonna miss the grueling classes and lugging that crate of books around.

Tip: A lady at Peason-Vue would not allow my magnifying glass in the exam, which one needs for their microscopic blueprints. She said it had to be pre-approved. I think this was a rare event but please just be aware.

Did she think that you were going to burn ants with it?

This is what is written on the exam candidate reservation sheet provided by Pearson VUE:

Please bring the following materials to the test center:
1. One form of valid non-expired government issued photo identification with signature, with the name on the ID matching the registration.
2. Copyrighted, bound reference books as listed in the current ICC Examination Information Bulletin. Photocopied reference materials may NOT be used.
3. A basic calculator that is silent, handheld, and battery operated. It cannot have alpha characters on the keypad or have data entry capability. Solar calculators are not recommended.

I have taken about a dozen ICC exams via the computer-based testing. For the most part, the proctors have been fairly conistent regarding "materials" taken into the test center. I am surpirsed they blocked a magnifying glass. I know she was just trying to do her job and follow the rules, but that is a little silly to me...
