Can you install PVC conduit from a branch circuit Panel to a Junction box "Outside" a Patient Care area and then from that Junction box run HCF or EMT into the Patient care area or would it have to be the metal raceway all the way back to the Panel?

Its my understanding that there has to be a 'parrallel' path for grounding all the way back to the branch circuit panel. Meaning, you cannot use pvc to serve the patient care area. Using pvc to a j box and then HCF or emt just defeats the whole purpose of having 'redundant' equipment grounding for patient care areas.

I also know its a stretch in interpertation, but all 'branch circuit' conductors have to be installed in the same raceway or cable. I see the 'conduit raceway' as part of the branch circuit conductors when dealing with redundant grounding for patient care.

I agree with Brother. See article 517.13(a). If any doubt after that look in article 100 for the definition of a Branch Circuit.
