The first time I worked for a company as a journeyman was in 2004. I had been making $13 as apprentice before that. I told the guy at the job interview that I always figured a new electrician should make $20 an hour. I had almost all residential with a little bit of light commercial experience. This was for a commercial outfit. He hired me on the spot. At one of the jobs, I filled out my time card and filled in the hourly rate and handed it to the foreman. He took one look at it and said, "You might want to keep that to yourself."
Since then I've worked for 2 other companies. I got paid $23 in 2006 for almost all residential work in the south shore area.
In 2007 I worked for a member of this forum doing residential for $25 in the north shore area.
I have no idea how good or bad these wages were or what wages are like now that the economy is a little slower.
