Check out this thread. I still use the one I bought - I have a voltage drop calculator on it (with the spreadsheet software included), and a circuit color panel schedule so I don't have to think too hard about whether circuits 8, 10 and 34 can share the same neutral.

Edit to add: I also have a few key tables saved on it, pipe fill, table 8, 310.16, etc.

Funny, I was going to ask the same question but in regards to the pda phones. I picked up a Samsung I730 and the thing is really cool and I guess you can do a ton with it BUT I can't seem to get to my contacts in the phone quick enough. I was talking with a carpenter who has one (a Treo) and loves it because he can get cut sheets, faxes, emails look up products online right there on the job. So before I return this thing tomorrow and go back to my regular phone, stop me if you think these are worth keeping.

I have a palmtreo 700wx it is great just make sure that if you use windows y ou get the windows version and if you use mac you get the palm version they are near impossible to opperate if you get them reversed and you will be paying dearly for a device at the cutting edge war between microsoft and apple in my opinion. It has made my life so much more organized and easy to keep track of money. Need a quote online for a very odd belden cable just bring it up and shop for price within 5 minutes. Give a credit card and it is being shipped and on itsw way.Just aN example needed info on a dmx cable for a stage / theatre install got cut on cable outside dimensions of jacket in seconds no 2 days of circle jerking on the phone. Makes it easy to ckeep track of money also just type in who gave what when and where when you dockit with your computer it can charge and download to a hard drive for multiple coppies of info you would kill for at tax time. Highly recomended by sparky

bty 2 gig flash card fullin 2 months 15$ extra to add laptop and use pda as a modem on network. Laptop is still better because of screen size and mobile software is painfully slow. bluetooth compatability leave pda clipped to toolbag and jump up in attic without phone to lose or crush on joists. pda is the future and prices will continue to go down like phone lines almost everyone will have wireless isp soon for free(nothing is free who am i kidding) provided by county. I am becoming cisco certified TECHNOLOGY BABY YEAH!!! Roll with it or walk down to the tar pits and lay down w T-REX. And while looking for customers house download google maps for free and punch in local zip code for up to date maps of backroads in sag harbor. PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good to me, I have 10 more days on my trial so I will give it a whirl. The flooring guy I work with also has an aftermarket program for GPS. So now he always has GPS no matter what car he is in. And for on the golf course it will tell you yardage and club size. (Just kidding)

I've been using Palm's since the Palm 3.
my latest is a Tungsten, great screen but kinda big.

Get an aluminum case.

Lectricalc from Arkansoft is real handy, as is Archicalc for feet-inch calculator.

Oh yeah, 2gig sd card holds a lotta music- with good headphones it rocks

A word of caution, the headphone jack on my Palm went south after only a couple months of use. I imagine the hole I drilled in the hard case for the headphones was pressing up against it, but I'm not sure if that's what did it in.

If you're going to be working and listening to tunes, I'd stick to an MP3 player. Those are getting cheaper daily, and smaller too. :)

Edit: And MP3 players have a locking button so you don't bump the case and skip songs, hit stop accidentally, turn the volume up, etc.
