48 in led strip lights 16 in of jack chain pendant Mc is not allowed only a SJ cord I was always under this impression but i see many installs with Mc/bx Some 10 feet of chain and exit sign I viewed a job we are bidding And all i see in the building is mc kn hack chain My whole install in bid is sj to junction box Junction box in between 2 48 in strips making 2 SJ per box But at 400 fixtures this a lot more expensive than MC tywrap to jack
 
Stranded MC Guess when i failed a while back Inspector could not touch mc
He never asked.

410.54 Pendant Conductors for Incandescent Filament Lamps.
(E) Stranding. Stranded conductors shall be used for wiring
on luminaire chains and on other movable or flexible parts.

One could argue that this doesn't apply to LED fixtures.

(E) pertains to 410.56 not 410.54. Anyway it says conductors not cables. This has been in the NEC since individual conductors were used on fixture chains.
