I have an electrician who would like to put this recepticle behind a cabinet door it would be less than 6" from the edge of the cabinet overhang and less than 12" from the top. does anyone see a problem with this?

Yes, the receptacle is then rendered not readily accesible and cannot be considered as meeting the receptacle requirment. Do you really want to have to open a door everytime you want to plug or unplug equipment? Can the electrician not locate the recptacle in accordance to 210.52(5)Exception(b)?

210.52 (5) exception allows you to locate the receptacle no more than 12 inches below the counter top as long as the overhang does not exceed 6 inches beyond the supporting base.So why not install the receptacle on the face or the end of the cabinet
