I understand that Pennsylvania does not have statewide licensing. Does anyone have any information about about local licensing and permitting requirements, particularly in Bucks County? I'm looking at a job in Lahaska on Monday, and I'd like to know if it'll be worth my while to pursue the licensing. If it's too costly or time consuming I'll just pass on the job, as it's a bit of a drive for me anyway.

Thanks.

Is there really no one on this forum who works in eastern Pennsylvania?

Eastern Pennsylvania, everyone with a screw driver, and working truck does electrical work, if you can beat the $7 an hour they get, then go for it.

I though you said a pick-up and gun rack were necessary. So you are ready to lower the standards even farther?

You might want to get ahold of user Robert Wilber. His website is in his personal profile too. Add "default.asp" to the end of his profile web link to get into his site. He operates in Bucks and Philly. He's been a generally very helpful guy. I don't suspect that PMing him would be of any value, since he seldom stops by here.

Jes...you're gonna need a passport ;)

Weekend is a bad time to try to contact the electricians from Pa, they may be sitting on the couch, on the front porch, looking at the christmas lights, but you may get them, when they come in to feed the hound dogs.

Marc is right, Robert should be able to give you the stright info on inspection requirements and permits, he lives in that area.

Lahaska, Pa has some of the best pies on the east coast, he should go there to look at the job, a nice break from crazy Jersey.

If i had to guess they probably will charge you about $100 for a licence
and ask you to show proof of insureence. hope this helps.

That just about sums it up. As it turns out, no electrical license is required in Buckingham Township. All that's needed is an underwriter's approval of the drawings, and then an inspection by the underwriter.
But plumbers need a license. Go figure....

Bucks License

Bucks License

No electrical license required in bucks. Only twp. license. Phila requires a master license. Cheltenham twp has a 10 ? test of their own. I hope they start requiring an electrical license soon. Too many GC's doing their own electric on additions and remodels

I work in Lancaster County PA. I agree. I hope they get some state wide licensing going here!

Both Electricians and Customers get hurt by this set up.

I agree. I find it really incredible that no licensing is required. It just seems so wrong.
I don't think I got this job, since I haven't heard anything in two weeks. I can't compete with that type of enviroment.
