quick question
i know that when you mount a transformer you need about 6-8 inches of clearance around all sides - correct - this is the proper application for distance away from walls, etc.

Re: perimeter

It depends on the manufacturer's instructions. There is a required clearance from the ventilation openings and you will be required to meet the requirements of 110.26 also. It depends on what is applicable in your particular installation. :D

Re: perimeter

so im reading 110.26 but i forgot to mention in my original post that the transformer is 15kva so that puts it above the 600 volts nominal. so i would have to go by 110.30 right. im not sure if the location of the transformer is indoor or outdoor but i will find that out tomorrow. any extra info. would be appreciated.

Let?s start with the letter k which is short for kilo and means 1000

Now a short lesson in law, Ohm?s law, which states that volts times amps equals power or watts.

Therefore a 15kva transformer is saying, 15,000 watt transformer. This could be at any voltage.
