Green tag for the services issued on the 4th.

CANNOT get the drop connected (it's been moved) until the 13th.

Their "planning" Dept. almost never answers their telephones and almost never returns calls.

I finally called the "regular" number (for pedestrians) and this girl put an "urgent" request through. I commented on the "urgent" and was told by this "polite" person that she doesn't respond to sarcasm.

Any thoughts on this?

We have an overhead service on a project that was installed and inspected in December but is still not connected. The existing service was swung over to a temp power pole during a remodel and now just needs to be moved back. The Cupertino PG&E office is now saying we need to allow 6 months for overhead service connects even if there was an existing service. I have talked to a number of long time field employees and they can?t say anything about their employer. Apparently the newer management is only concerned with the bottom line and doesn?t care about customer service. I have also heard PG&E is going to be reducing the office staff which is going to delay paperwork in the office even more. I feel the only thing that can be done now is for the government to completely dismantle PG&E. The other option is for individual cities or counties to take over the local distribution similar to Palo Alto and Santa Clara.

Remember, PG&E stands for "Pacific Graft and Extortion", With deregulation we were given all the disadvantages and none of the advantages. (High rates and poor service)

As in, passed inspection on 4/04/06, and no hookup until 5/13/06?

I would imagine that any POCO that operates in a densly populated area has similar problems. I have 3 different POCO's in my area. When I go to contractors' meetings (local or state) the first 1/2 hour is usually taken up with gripes about the very same thing you're talking about.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you can get a telephone number of a supervisor and call that # as a last resort you might wake up a sleeping giant. If you believe you are being ignored on a regular basis I would write a letter to your Public Utilities Commission (if you have one) and speak your piece. Maybe you'll wake someone up there. Otherwise, welcome to the club.

Try the Public Utilities Commission.
I've never verified this, but I have heard that the local POCO is mandated to respond in a certain time frame once the service is released by the AHJ.

I seem to remember here the standard line is 3 to 5 days after release

Sam, I got you beat on this one. Green tag for a residential meter replacement issued 3-6-06. I notified PG&E on 3-7-06 . Same location, load and customer. PG&E will be out to set a new meter and make permanent connections at the weatherhead on 5-3-06. This is also in SF.
When I've needed PG&E on the peninsula, I would either call or stop by the Colma yard and they would tell me they'll be out in a couple of days.
