Why would some if the feeder have 6 phase legs? So each set has 6 phase legs? Doesn’t make sense.

Picture just came in.

how about parallel 400 KCMIL for phase and neutral.
That would be 6 phase and two neutral wires.

maybe I’m missing something here..
what doesn’t make sense is parallel 400 (6 phase) with one neutral on the bottom section.

But parallel would be in different conduits.

Not necessarily. You can put multiple sets in the same conduit, as long as you account for bundling adjustments, and the number of sets per conduit is uniform across the feeder. So 6 sets can be in 3 conduits with 2 sets in each, but 5 sets would have to each be in their own conduit. The drawings should specify whether multiple sets per conduit are intended.

If it shows one neutral that's one for each set correct?

I follow what your saying but always thought parallel sets(wires) were always in separate conduits.

I’m FAR from a code expert, and there are some on here, but I’ve always understood there’s more derating when parallel is run in one conduit.
Its legal to run parallel in the same conduit, but you get “ less bang for the buck”

It's 20 conductors per phase in 10 conduits.

Plus 20 neutrals split between all the conduits?

Ive never worked on a service that large, so I’m curious.

my largest was a church with 6 conduits, one set in each.

Yup, not sure what size feeder this is maybe 5000 amps.
