Do all manufacturers calibrate their meters to display the same reading (either clockwise or counter-clockwise) for the same A-B-C configuration?

Or do you have to hookup a motor with the same meter you originally used to test for rotation when you disconnected the motor in the 1st place?

Re: Phase Rotation Meters

I wondered the same.
I always tried to use the same rotation meter to check the before and after rotations.
I have used a meter with the lights for years, but have since purchased the Ideal/Sperry model that actually has a motor in it.
The two showed the same rotation.
The Ideal has an arrow for clockwise the says correct rotation.

It may be a standard and they all may show the same rotation, but I wouldn't trust one unless I tested it against another one.

Do not trust it unless you have tested one against the other.
I have always used the same rotation meter to record rotation beforehand as I used afterward to verify rotation after the reconnection.
This stems from an incident years ago in which I, & a few others learned that all rotation meters are not created equal.
