Phone cable from utility demarc - in dwelling

I am not a low voltage/communication expert so got a question.

I am an electrical contractor (commercial), building my own home. I haven't wired a home in 18 years.

Is there any issue with using a CAT5 cable from the telephone company demarc to the inside of my home? Is this class 2 or class 3 circuit?

I am running all phone lines to a central Leviton cabinet to patch all jacks in.

Also, we do not have cable (TV) available so later on I will get internet via DSL from phone company (no fiber available). Any concerns with this on the CAT5 incoming line?

No problem with the Cat5 cable, I run it all the time.
 
Class 2 and 3 circuits you are thinking of are likely art 725 control circuits. This is a chapter 8 communications circuit. Though because it is a limited energy circuit there are some similarities in requirements.

Nope. Most homes are wired with Cat Nothing (old Bell wire) or cat 3.

No concerns,tho I would run an RG6 from the demarc to the Leviton cab as well so that if you get cable at some point, you'll already have the coax there. Id also wire up coax where you want TVs. It's easy and cheap to do at rough in, not so much so after the fact.

Single family residences are not fire proof construction. You can use essentially any cable. The lowest "ranked" listed cables end in "X" are are designed for such locations. Anything with a different suffix is is better.

The DSL signals are designed to run over 50 year old cables designed to carry 300-3000Hz. CAT-3 is overkill, CAT-5 more so. It will work fine.
 
I'd run some sort of pipe (probably over-sized smurf tube) from the demarc to the patch location. That makes it possible to add a TV coax or more TP lines if you need to. (Maybe not easy, but possible.)

Also, don't forget about things like cable chases from attic to basement and that sort of thing. Easy to add during construction, terrible to add later.

This! Also pull a string in with your wire so you won't need to later, and pull another string in any time you do pull a wire through it, that way you always have a string in the pipe for the future. :)
