Pigtailing out conductors for 120volt outlets in a commercial building vs a residential building. I know that in any building type you have to pigtail for a multi-wire circuits instead of using the terminals on the outlet to jump to the next outlet. My questions is in a commercial building can you land your conductors on the outlet terminals and then jump to the next outlet from the outlet terminals. Sorry I am having difficulty explaining this.

Either way is acceptable on a NON multiwire branch circuit. However, if you rely on the termianls of a cheapo receptacle, you may be practicing your signature more than you would like. :)

excellent question,,,I hear this stated as a code fact with no reference to code..
when i started in resi we did it so we could ring out the house.
then in comm. i was told on every job to do it because it was code..Im ok with it either way.
in resi it may be part of the wall rough for the inspector to see grounds pigtailed for each device in a opening.

Ringing out prior to walls closing is a good thing.
