Re: PIPE IN A SLAB

i was almost positive but started to work for a new EC that said only 3 90 allowed.Didn't seem smart to argue with your new boss. Also caught his workers stapling wires as close as 3/4 of inch from face of 2x4 he told me thats fine .I am having doughts about him

Re: PIPE IN A SLAB

Most times we think of code as minimum.

In this case it is the maximum allowed.

Your boss IMO is wise to try to stay less 270 degrees when possible, unless you have pulling equipment feeders get real tough to install with 360 degrees of bends.

Many times underground you can keep it to 180 Degrees.

He was counting 2 ups in his number and saying it illegal.Yes it would be ruff to pull.Been there done that.Sometimes it just takes that many to do the job. When it does i try to make long sweeps and oversize the pipe. This man has been doing this for 35 years.Right now i need the job,so not gonna stir nothing.I was handed a crew of 3 and im not impressed so far.

Jim Maybe your getting tested? I would inform him that while the NEC allows up to 360 deg. of bends in any one leanght of run. you agree that it's not a good idea and that's pretty smart make him feel good then bring up about that nails/screws could hit wires that are closer than 11/4' from the face of the stud. Explain that you were not allowed to do that before because you would get a red tag. If you don't say anything and it is a test guess what.

If your not so impressed with your crew....... perhaps you should consider what they may think about you .

They seem to like me(i like me)am hoping maybe they can be changed to do more code compliant work. One only has 3 months behind him,so really not chewing him out, mostly just shocked at his previous teacher. He was taking plastic nail ons and opening all the holes up,even if only putting 1 wire in it.
