I am going to run a 200a service with 4/0 alum. wire in pvc Is 3" pipe the right size thanks for the help.

what type of wire? THHN THWN-2

what type of PVC? Sched 40, sched 80

3" is o.k. (perhaps) but could be 2" or 2 1/2" depending on your answers.....JMSO

I believe that 2" is good for 1ph, but you might need 2.5" for 3ph.

Also, is this service or feeder, i.e., separate EGC or not?

POCO in my area requires 2" for single phase and 3" for 3 phase.
