Yes. I failed once. Ever since I always leave the package of the material somewhere on the rough. Like the red head bags, lable on the MC, And the bag that the ties came from, so the inspector can see thats what i used.

I have got caught not using plenum wire ties and had to go back and replace them. But it was about 8 years ago. We don't use plenum now.

I want to know where the requirement is that plenum rated ties be used in a plenum ceiling space? Not saying there isn't one, but everytime something new hits the market, people want to tell me it's some kind of requirement. I've nearly been duped enough times to be suspicious and want proof.

Off the top of my head 300.22 'other spaces' equipment will be metal or listed for the purpose or something like that.

I just use tie wire. Cheaper than ty-raps and nobody can complain. I'm also skeptical of the need for plenum listed ty-raps. Hmm, wonder if anybody uses red ty-raps. They look pretty much the same.

Yup, red ties, they have been used, along with red dye in joint compound being passed off for fire caulking of rated walls! I couldn't believe my eyes when I dug into the "caulking" because it looked a little "dry".........funny, for me, not for the GC.:-?

Just to clarify: We don't typically install wiring in a plenum space, thats the ductwork. We often install wiring in an air handling space, or enviromental air as the NEC calls it.
See article 100 definition and all of section 300.22
And yes plenum rated cable ties are required in an air handling space.

Sorry Tom I was using the plenum term incorrectly like 99% of the EC do. I know you need "plenum rated" in air handling space and that "plenum rated" is normally not allowed in a plenum.
