Is there any violations for using plug mold in a industial plant? We have been written up on a safety inspection for having a plug strip in a prodution area.It was attached to a machine for various small tools 120vac It was gfci protected also don`t think it was a requirement but is.Its the metal raceway 2000 by wiremold. Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is an NEC issue. How is it fed ?
 
I think the safety man or woman is working off a generic checkoff sheet and doesn't understand the difference between something legal and permanent like Plugmold and something like the current tap type power strips that are cord and plug connected. I think you need to educate them a bit. Surely they'd pass a half-dozen handy boxes with receptacles connected with pipe, so they should pass Plugmold. It probably just reminds them of a cord and plug connected power strip, and that's what they can't get over. You might even call Wiremold's 800-number to see if they possibly have a "canned response" to such a safety writeup. They have excellent tech support.

I might guess he's a factory electrician. Many factories and plants have a person who's only job is to run around trying to catch people doing things they aren't supposed to be doing and write up safety items that may or may not be real problems.
