I just recently received a notice from one of my service techs from the fire department.
It states that they are requiring the removal of all the surge suppressors from an area of the building that houses several computers. These surge suppressors or plug strips are full but only with pc related items such as receipt printers card readers and other such items. Is there a specific code related to such a request.
(note there is adequate circuiting to support these plug strips)

The fire dept should be able to provide the code reference. My guess it they're going to cite something from NFPA 1 (not the NEC). They may have a local amendment, which fire dep'ts are notorious for.

Is each power strip plugged into a fixed receptacle, or are you daisy chaining them?
Have you mounted the strips in a fixed position (other than with the built-in keyhole slots?
Either one of those could be an NEC violation.
