Here's the situation. I have a closet roughed in and on either side of the opening is exactly 2 feet to the corners. Question is , Do I need to have plugs there because it is 2 feet or less ? There are interior doors that when open will block the plugs anyway .

Just because the corners are there doesn't mean the Code can be gotten around. "Receptacles shall be installed so that no point measured horizontally along the floor line in any wall space is more than 1.8 m (6 ft) from a receptacle outlet." Additionally, "any space 600 mm (2 ft) or more in width (including space measured around corners) and unbroken along the floor line by doorways, fireplaces, and similar openings" is considered a wall space. In other words, a corner is not an opening.

The above is from 210.52(A).

Charlie,

210.52(A) General provision. ........similar room or area........

It appears that closets are excluded. Unless it is a walkin closet with open wall space, I would think that receptacles are not required.

The word 'closet' probably was not included in the 'laundry list ' is because outlets are not required with-n the closet.

Go with Charlie on the exterior of the closet wall measurements.

I was making the assumption that he was talking about the walls adjacent and not inside of the closet. I don't believe receptacles are required on the inside of any clothes closet. :)
