hi
I have a piece of kitchen equipment that is 1800 watt and 120 volts. the plug went bad on it and I check the code and I don't see any requirements for sizing the plug or increasing by 125%. Am I missing something or should this piece of equipment get a 15 amp plug?

Article 402 sorry that's for wire sizes!

What's the piece of equipment?

Did you note a gauge of the wire?

Did you pull the receptacle, it sould like it's worn out!

Was the original plug OEM, if so what size plug was on the original cord? I would consider just replacing it with the same plug configuration.

We had problems with movable warmers (floor mounted, 6 ft tall) in kitchens. They had 12-3 SO and 15A 120V straight blade plugs. The weight of the cord would partly pull the plugs out. The plug and receptacle would literally melt down and we would have "fire in the kitchen calls". We started replacing each with a 20A 120V twist lock and never had another problem. With heavy cords twist lock is your friend. [powdered extinguisher is not considered a condiment:blink:]
