Is it wrong to use a 10' plumbing PVC, as a chase for MC, from an exposed ceiling to a work station? The only code I could find is 300.8 but thats only Installation of conductors with other systems.

IMO, there is no problem, it is only a chase.

its fine until someone comes along and thinks they are cutting a piece of plumbing pipe away only to get electrocuted. If you are going to use pvc why not use something that indicates that there are probably wires in it ?

on second thought,

I think this violates
110.12 (workmanlike manner)
330.10 - It does not list plumbing pipe as an approved raceway for mc (where it says "in any raceway" it presumably means "in any NEC recognized raceway", ie a chapter 3 or otherwise listed raceway)

According to the NEC this perfectly legal as long as you're pulling cables through it and not individual conductors. Individual conductors would require a listed raceway.

It's an "EXPOSED CEILING", if a person cuts into this chase without looking up they will probably die from something stupid anyways.

Not enforcible.

So, is a stud cavity in a wall between floors an approved raceway?

If the MC is fished in any existing pipe, abandoned chimney, purposely designed sheetrock chase, abandoned dumbwaiter shaft, etc... it's legal.
