Due to interest generated by another thread I brought out my Magcheck-95 to play with. On leisurely drive home via country roads I noticed that it would peak at just about every powerpole as I passed them. I am taking somewhat of a wag that the primary neutral current that is flowing thru the earth, thanks to pole grounds, becomes more concentrated at each rod. The two wire single phase lines were more notable than 3ph 4 wire.

That is an interesting observation. I'll have to check it out in our area.
