Not counting well, or otherwise, intentioned jabs and ridicule is there a NEC or NESC requirement for how much a wood pole is allowed to be out of plumb?

Is your wood pole owned by a utility service provider, ...in
a Right of Way location?....If so, that utility service provider
may have some installation guidelines of their own.....If your
wood pole is located on, or under control of a private
individual, not sure the NEC has anything to require
"plumbness", or at least I haven't found anything yet! :?

A pole would be considered a structure. Our utilities have specifications on how much pole needs to be below grade in reference to the overall length. Most structures are governed by an applicable building code if any. It also may need to be asked if this is a temporary structure, our state has ruled that for the most part the building codes are not applicable to temporary structures. If the utility is involved turn to their regulations. Most of the time there are either req. or building codes that address this

We have many, many utility poles around here that are VERY far off plumb. They don't get any attention until they just about fall over.

If there is a rule, it's probably for installation only and doesn't apply to poles that have been in service.
