Pond Fountains

I have to run a branch circuit to a pond fountain and someone told me it had to be in conduit all the way from the panel to the disconnect at the pond. Wouldn't wire rated for direct burial be O.K.? Do I have to run a insulated ground as in pool construction? I looked in Art. 680 but could not find anything. Thanks for the help.

Look at 680.25 for feeders. This requires a conduit system. Also look at 680.25 (B) which requires that the grounding conductor be insulated. Finally check out part V of article 680 which deals specifically with fountains. It looks to me like you have received good advice.

Take a look at 682.13 , I don't see why you would have to use a piping system for a branch circuit.
