I am installing a large pond pump in a fancy gated neighborhood.

The pump is a 7HP? submersible style, pumps a 3in discharge line 30ft uphill to a waterfall 300ft away.

Does a 220v 50amp spa-type breaker need to be installed? is it needed , or recommended??

The wiring provided with the pump, is S.O. cord routed through open water then up a pvc conduit located under the water's edge to the power box.

Thank you
Dennis

I assume art 682 is in effect here . I see art 682.33(B) as requiring gfci for all circuits 60 amps or less not requiring the equipotential plane
