on the alum. cups, a #8 easily attached to the screw, no lug required last year. New inspector in town said must have lug, or give UL listing. There is no UL listing per (Permacast Inc) UL will only provide it for bronze cups. The company says adding a db lug only increases the resistance. Any one have any updates on this?

680.26 (B) (3) Metal Fittings. All metal fittings within or attached to the pool structure shall be bonded. Isolated parts that are not over 100 mm (4 in.) in any dimension and do not penetrate into the pool structure more than 25 mm (1 in.) shall not require bonding.

110.14 (A) Terminals. Connection of conductors to terminal parts shall ensure a thoroughly good connection without damaging the conductors and shall be made by means of pressure connectors (including set-screw type), solder lugs, or splices to flexible leads. Connection by means of wire-binding screws or studs and nuts that have upturned lugs or the equivalent shall be permitted for 10 AWG or smaller conductors.
Terminals for more than one conductor and terminals used to connect aluminum shall be so identified.

I agree with jw. I have already been down this road and this is one of my pet peeves. A #8 conductor can not be terminated with a wire binding screw.

Well, this seems to be a pet peeve or subject of popular debate. A code site in Florida offered up some interesting info.
We have contacted a manufacturer, they have advised UL has approved the Bronze Sockets with manuf. screw is sufficient for termination. There is no UL on the Alum. cups, same design.
The manuf. believe adding a ground/bonding lug will only increase the resistance. Also, if using a lug and whomever encases in concrete generally whips the cup and wiring attached into the hand rail etc. sockets into the concrete. They are said to loosen. Interesting.

It shouldn't be this difficult. The manufacturer of these cups could (and should) just have a boss with a set-screw molded into these cups to accept the #8 solid bonding wire...
