Re: Pool Bonding

Who is telling you this?. Generally speaking unless you have done substantial work on it, the pool as is should be "grandfathered" in.

The question you should ask yourself is whether you think the pool is safe "enough" as is, or needs to be upgraded. I cannot answer this for you.

I can tell you I personally consider the relatively recent pool bonding requirements to be poorly thought out and in some cases excessive.

If there is no metal frame of the pool to bond to, all that needs be done is install a ground grid under the concrete pad around the pool.

There may be ways to do this that don't require you to tear up your existing installation completely.

If a contractor is telling you this, and the price is substantial, get a second opinion. He has a financial interest, and even an honest contractor can be mistaken.

Re: Pool Bonding

It is hard to give you a good answer. The PC answer is to go ahead and get the bonding done like a good little sheep.

It might even be a good idea.

But its been there for 33 years. It is hard to understand sometimes why they decide to pick on certain installations over others.
