I went on a call today. The homeowner is trying to sell the house and a home inspector noted a defect at the pool equipment. The pool motor was not bonded. (You know, where the run a #8 bare around the metal framing and such and bring it to the pool equipment to be attached to the ground lug of the pool motor.
Now mind you, the casing of the motor was grounded.
Upon further investigation we found out that whoever had installed the pool equipment, had run the bare ground (through some PVC pipe) into the switch box that operates the pump motor and made joints there.
Now I have only been doing this type of work for just over six years and have done pool equipment before. Was the way I found the bonding wire, the proper way to do this at one time.
I ended up removing the #8 bare from the switch box and connecting it straight to the lug on the pump motor.
