3 pump motors have been installed on a 2 pole 40amp breaker (cb), the motors for the pumps are 11.2 amp, 11.5 amps and 11.2 amps respectively rated at 230v, approx distance of 85', on #8 stranded wire, the customer is worried about simultaneous starting of those motors may cause nuisance tripping and ultimately requiring replacement of the feeding cb. What would be the correct installation under the code for wire size and breaker size for these motors.

430.24 for wire size.
430.62 for OCPD

yes all three motors or on the one 40 amp breaker and no the breaker is not gfci

I would install individual gfci protection with proper OCPD for each motor. The 40 amp fed should be sufficient.
