I am looking at a job that requires a 130'run from the main service panel in the home to a pool house.

Pool contractor wants a 60 amp sub feed quoted for the job.
With all pool equipment, a small kitchenette and a small AC unit I come up with close to 40 amps.

Am on the fence between pulling #4 or #6 thhn.

#6 would suffice, but VD comes into play..

#4 would cover it but then I'm upsizing raceway from 3/4 to 1"

120/240V single phase is the voltage

Opinions welcome.

I don't think 130' is usually something to worry about but I would pull #4 or some aluminum, if cost is an issue, to prepare for future hot tub etc. I don't know what the budget is but if you can do this it may be worthwhile

Agreed. Many spas are 50A, some even 60A. #4 (or even #2) and the upsized conduit wouldnt be that much more than #6/smaller. I would at least present the option to the HO and let them know that retrenching at a later date will be a substantial cost, tear up the yard, etc. Another option that may be best is run the #6 but use rpvc large enough to run larger conductors at a later date w/o retrenching.
