Just for fun I went down to our community pool and took a look at the electrical installation. Being unincorporated and uninspected showed up right away. No bonding conductor at the pool light brass conduits, no connectors on the pool light conduits, just a hole where the slip into the junction box and finally a coupling on the brass conduits that consists of a compression PVC plumbing fitting. Besides the obvious corrections to the conduits, I intend on changing the lights to 12 volts and using step down transformers on GFCI breakers. Anyone have any other suggestions to make this any safer than changing to 12 volt lighting? I guess my concern is there could always be a short between the primary and secondary of the transformer. with no access to the bonding conductor, i still see a issue.
